1) Turn out at Exit 2A

How to get there:

For cars:

Driving instructions:

From ECP:

Turn left when you see the PIE sign on the left of the ECP (EXIT 1)
Go straight along the PIE and take the middle lane when you reach the junction of 3 lanes.
Drive along the TPE and exit at 3B when you reach Pasir Ris Flyover
After the Pasir Ris Flyover, drive along Pasir Ris Drive 8
Reaching the end of Drive 8, turn left to Pasir Ris Drive 1 until you reach the junction of Elias Road. (You can see a Mobil petrol kiosk on the opposite side of the road)
Turn right to Elias Road, pass Elias Mall Shopping Centre on your right and proceed to Pasir Ris Ave.

(I just type out from the info given, not sure if wholly accurate)

For bus:

As you can see, address is 118 Pasir Ris Road.

As usual, before you arrive can call then go pick you all up or something (just like every year).

Please bring:
Money to pay jiali/whoever else buying stuff for the expenses for the barbeque at night/drinks, etc.
Whatever stuff needed for recreation lol.

Be reminded:
Need to leave early the following morning so uh... don't oversleep!
Oil spill off the coast of Singapore, so don't go swimming in the sea.
No alcohol... since we're all underage.

What else... any questions please ask the people you need to ask. Lol.

Once again, chalet is on 2nd june, night cycling is 1st june. If those not attending night cycling want to go to the chalet on 1st june night, also can.

Hey ignore the previous post about canceling the chalet lol.

Chalet will be on 2nd june. Map will be posted ( i don't know how to upload pdf but heck) later in the day.

I'll be off during afternoon but I think that shouldn't be a problem. If you all want, can come earlier stay overnight at 1st june night. (If you not going the night cycling lol).

Don't worry about sleeping space, surely got more space than the previous chalet. Dinner I not sure how to settle but yeah.

Those going can tell jiali? Or has she collated the list of people going? Anything.

As you might have known, mid years are gone :(

With that, the weighting has changed to 15% , 30% , 15% and 40%. So if you flunked your tests last term... that's 15% of the marks gone. But no worries! there's still a long way to go and with more effort, all of us would be able to do well this year.

And if you haven't known, a MSG of 1.25 gives you exemption from the EOYs (hence the decrease in percentage from 70% to 40% for EOYs). And I believe MSG of 1.5 allows partial exemption..

Not sure how its going to play out, but it'll be gay. No doubt about it.

Here's something for you guys to see. Personally i think its absolutely hilarious that they think they are superior in english when its obvious most taiwanese suck at english. If criticize mandarin can still accept, but this is epic lol. And yeah they're criticizing S.E Asia as a whole as well (not just s'pore). And the way they adopt the western accents is so freaking pathetic i basically ROFL-ed.

But that's just me... maybe you do agree with them that our standard of english is worse than taiwan's. You see other taiwan variety shows and its obvious these guys are idiots...

O level HCL officially started. Few more hours to liberation!(and after that we would need to start on GP holiday homework...)

Anyway, details for chalet should be up on the class blog soon if you guys need it (i.e. how to get there, rules and regulations[fortunately didn't cause much problems last year], facilities[pool! and there's also a park so don't make excuses about not cycling...], and of course, remembering to tell yicheng to pay up :D)

The Chinese have a saying “生不带来，死不带去” so let’s start from there on. We come into this world buck-naked and the first thing we receive is a slap on the ass by the doctor. There is no pain, we have not learnt it yet, but we are not used to it, and so we cry.
From there onwards, we start trading with the people that we meet. We manage a ‘papa’ or ‘mama’ in exchange for a smile, a whoop, a phone call to grandma. We start a conversation to be spoken back to in return. We attend birthday parties with presents in hand to ensure that we won’t be spending ours alone.
With that trade, I believe we leave behind something important, something dear, something that is able to transcend time and space. That something is immaterial, but we are able to grasp it all the same. At this point, the five senses take a backseat along with science. Neurons, synapses and other related jargon may explain why and how we feel what we feel, but it is of no relevance.
What we leave behind is a memory. It could be a one that people recall when stuck in an examination hall. It could also be one people conjure before hitting the red button. It could be one that people revisit in their beds while trying to fly airplanes if you are blessed from birth.
From that memory, we emote. We start to have impressions. We start to think about future interactions with those involved. Some of the times we do what we want to. We go out for a movie, utter a scathing remark or even jump into a nice loft of hay together. Sometimes we don’t. Maybe it’s because we don’t possess the courage to. Or perhaps we lack the motivation to.
So before it’s too late, I would like to say a big ‘thank you’ from the bottom of what’s left of my heart. I am not going to list all of 4D down and start thanking each one. To segregate this way would be grossly inappropriate and would not reflect my current state of mind properly. Instead I would just do it as I feel should be done. Thanks to all of 4D ’09, who shared their time, their opinions, their presence. I might be guilty of taking too much, giving too little. I might have went overboard sometimes, slept in one too many lessons, etc etc. But I still do enjoy, appreciate and love you all (where ‘love’ means the friendly Asian love we all know, not the ‘I-want-to-procreate’ kind of love that is strictly reserved for people like Mr Hor and Kendrick and Si zheng and …)

Let's start with something random: my people in Virtual Villagers have all died because the last man died and the village was left with females only. So slowly everyone died and there were no more villagers. XD

Next comes the rant: I failed very badly so yeh, I don't think I'm staying. I don't even think I'll be happy staying because I am already a little pissed off at myself for staying for 4 years in a school that I hate.
The best thing that happened in RV would be infocomm club mates and class 3D'o8/4D'o9. Luckily, teachers are nice and understanding people (the teachers I have the worst impression of have either gone or they've never taught in my classes), and actually the reason I hate this school is just because I hate the school for being what it is. It's not the curriculum, it's not the people, it's not environment. I admit they have some nice stuffs, like the cartoon drawing for E&C week in sec 1 (not happy that they never offered it anymore after that year). I just dislike the school for its reputation (good school, IP, 传统 chinese school, whut? I just wanna be in a regular neighbourhood school.), and that the daughter of the chinese tutor I don't really like used to study there.

It's hard for anyone to make me hate an individual person. To make me hate you, you must be a total asshole or someone who's wasting my time (which constitutes the asshole part, but the latter is if you don't wanna admit you're in my list of assholes)

Current list of assholes:
30+ year old educated-seeming woman who randomly scolded me in the bus before she alighted when I was in primary 4? (she's the only one in the list, so that shows how much of an asshole she is/was, because whenever I think of her I can't stop cursing her and have the urge to mentally torture her back if I had the chance to)

List of people who aren't assholes yet but a step close to being one:
1 teacher in RV who accused me of something I wasn't doing when I was in sec 2.

List of people who aren't assholes, but I don't really like as well:
School counsellor. Seriously, she just wastes my time. I just never had the heart to tell Mdm Guo/the counsellor herself that her counselling is useless because she's a really nice lady

For those who don't really get it, we (Jeffry, Jia Li, Qi En, Tiening, Yao Rong, HER) were at MOS burger when SHE caught sight of some guy sitting beside his gf. SHE took a break from devouring her fries to stare at that guy and when she finally daydreamed enough she told Jia Li about HER dirty little secret. Big mistake. Jia Li trumpeted the news for all and sundry to hear, upon which she... um... 顔が赤くなる (kao ga akaku naru, face became red)。Just when you thought once was bad enough, we goaded her into looking at him again and she did it again.

I am pretty sure we were all enlightened by the recent CIP outing. I'm going to write my reflections here, L2M style. No joke.

What is CIP

CIP nurtures our students to become socially responsible and develops their sense of belonging and commitment to our country. Through participating in community work, students also learn the value of service and develop lasting friendships with one another.

Service Learning is an approach where CIP participants not only serve the community, but also learn to identify with the needs of the community and to reflect on their own experience in working with the community so that they have a better understanding and appreciation of what it involves.

How to find a CIP

1. Elect two damn suay people
2. Try helping a Milsum orphanage
3. Fail
4. Run around waving hands in panic (*near 360 degrees revolution)
5. Whack Guo 老师 while waving your hands
6. If all turns out well, she will help us find an activity that gives us our hours
7. Since its always beach cleaning, we'll assume that we are going to clean bitches
8. Find a far flung, god-forsaken beach that is nicely segmentated
9. Amongst all the available spots, choose the one that is the least accessible
10. If you are the teacher, wait an hour or two for the students to arrive.
11. If you are a student, more detailed instructions are in the section titled, "How to reach that place"

The conflicts and tensions between neighbouring combat units has escalated so much that both parties are sending their entire armoury to combat the other.
However, our side has been on the losing end since day one.
We were deprived of proper cooling of weapons, since most of the cool air had been redirected to our enemies.
As a result, the temperatures of our weapons were elevated to above normal operating temperatures, hence the inability to fire off at our enemies.
Besides, the weapons that our enemies used were far higher technological advanced than ours - we have the 3G army, they have 3.5G!

They had no As for cleanliness, they had no 3.9 GPA,

Relative theory of sound.

Hey people, you realised that we may be talking too loud eh? But worry not. A Group of Understimated, Retarded Underagers (GURU) has a theory why our sound waves outright pwns their's.

First, there is the concept of 'IGNORE' (Interwoven Grounds Negating Oral Representation Effectively) and 'BLAME' (Blatant Lying About Making Explosions). According to GURU's theory, there is a layer of IGNORE between the 4D classroom and the 4E classroom which dampens sound waves created by the vocal folds of the 4E students. Only a certain teacher that has chemistry with sound has ever managed to perceive the narrow harmonic range that is not severely dampened. Even so, the second protective mechanism, BLAME, is present to ensure that the effects of their sound waves are negated.

Noteworthy is how ‘IGNORE’ functions like a partially permeable membrane, only sound from 4E undergoes dampening.

How ‘BLAME’ works remains puzzle brilliant minds all over the world. Here, we quote a recent interview with leading scientist L²M.

GURU: Thanks for taking the time to talk to us. What can you tell us about the current dilemma over the issue of ‘BLAME’?

L²M: Well, we are actually debating if the phenomenon is a result of 4E’s lack of scruples or common sense. Shocking In Theatres Only 03 . 07 . 2009

As you all know, the physics video was one of the most retarded yet challenging assignment from the Physics Department™. Bet we all had loads of fun doing it. But most importantly, how funny/retarded was yours? I'll post ours (Qing Hua, Jeffry, Jia De)'s video here. Watch, laugh, and then post yours!

And yeah, we had a shitload of problem tech-wise. First the format from the camera wasn't supported (.mov -> .avi), then the video got stuck on the first frame (.avi -> .mp4), then the audio sucked (unlink, delete, voice-over), then we needed "diagrams" (say hi to flash).

Sadly, all those didn't help the content AT ALL. It still sucked content-wise. For something done using Family Guy as a reference with sexual innuendos all over the place and fueled by Korean instant noodles, its a huge achievement.

· (For student who is not well) When did you start feeling unwell? How do you feel? Do you have fever, sore throat, cough, runny nose, headache, etc?

· Forgot password to IVLE or faces technical issues, email to rvhs@moe.edu.sg, stating their name, class and NRIC number as well as phone number. School will respond to them ASAP.

· If the student has travelled to an H1N1 affected country/region and is not feeling well, staff will convey the following information to the students: “Please call 993 for medical assistance. You should also stay at home until you are fully recovered. Please do not go out e.g. shopping, for meals, take the MRT or socialise with others until the doctor tells you that you are well.”

· If the student has travelled to an H1N1 affected country/region and arrived in Singapore on or after 22 Jun 09, staff will explain to him/her that he/she will be issued with an LOA (Travel to Affected Countries) for the next 7 days from the date of return to Singapore (the 7 days exclude the day of return). During this period, he/she will stay at home, and the school will make arrangement for him to catch up on his/her school work.
